Chilled fresh raspberries accompanied by thinly sliced pound cake and cof- fee means dessert perfection JELLIED CHICKEN BUFFET SALAD envelopes unflavored gelatine cups cold water cans .(1% cups each) con- envelopes unflavored gelatine| NOTE: cups V-8 juice To make jellied chicken layer, soften gelatine in 1 cup cold water; place container over boil- ing water and heat, stirring oc- casionally, until gelatine is dis- solved. Blend in soup, remaining 1 1 Sw water and other ingredi- Pour into a 2 quart mold; chit until almost firm. Mean- while, to make jellied V-8 layer, soften gelatine in % cup V-8; dis- solve over boiling water. Blend in remaining V-8; chill until slightly thickened. Carefully spread over jelled chicken layer; ehill until firm. Serve on crisp salad greens. Makes 12 party servings. Recipe may be cut in half for 6 servings. Deliciously Ditterent Dessert Chocolate Walfles, Coffee Syrup Here's a recipe for a most |1 unusual dessert; a real conversa. tion piece to serve when company comes. An added bonus for the busy cook is the simplicity and ease with which it can be made. The recipe is Chocolate Waffles with Coffee Syrup. The waffles have a scrumptious milk-choco- late flavor which the coffee- flavored syrup complements. Serve the waffles hot off the iron with plenty of butter or margar- ine. A sprinkle of sifted icing sugar may be substituted in place of the syrup. An especially ap- propriate idea for the summer months would be to make ice- cream sandwiches from the waf- fles, and serve them with or with- out the syrup. CHOCOLATE WAFFLES With Coffee Syrup Yield -- about 4 servings i cup once-sifted all-purpose flour or 1% cups once-sifted pastry flour with plenty of butter or margar- ine and a sprinkle of sifted icing sugar or, if preferred, with the following Coffee Syrup. COFFEE SYRUP ; Yield -- about 1% cups syrup 1 1 tablespoon powdered instant coffee 1/3 cup granulated sugar Few grains salt Ys cups boiling water tbsp. butter or margarine Few drops vanilla Combine in a small saucepan the corn starch, instant coffee, sugar and salt; stir in boiling water. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and comes to the boil. Cover and cook 1 tablespoon corm starch Miss a long fork shot from mid-table? Blend ingredients together lightly and use as 'sandwich fil- ling" for tomato slices, as above. CURRIED RICE AND SWISS CHEESE FILLING add to rice and cheese, Use to "sandwich" tomato silces to- gether as above for double decks ers. CHOP SUEY SALAD 1% cups diced, cooked turkey, chicken, veal or pork 1 cup chopped celery 2 tablespoons minced onion 2 hard-cooked eggs, chopped Y cup diced sweet pickles 1/3 cup coarsely broken awinuts 15 cup crisp Chinese noodles %2 cup mayonnaise tablespoons wine vinegar 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1% teaspoons salt METHOD: Combine ali ingredi- ents.
