Hicks, locked sulky wheels approaching the starting line. Mr. Hicks was thrown from the sulky, as was Mr. Wetherup. Patsy Atom did a complete |somersault on the track and the harness had to be unhooked to free her. Becky Jane Volo got off luckier and went driverless down the track. Mr. Wetherup suffered "21 |a cut right leg. This accident caused a change |of drivers in the free-for-all with |Ray Lawrie driving Becky Jane |Volo and being the winner of the the first heat. The final 16-5 score was the re- sult of more inspired play by the locals in the remainder of the game, but it would have taken a super-human effort to make a game of it after the disastrous opener. Thus far the performance of the Millers has been a big puzzle, In every game they have shown brief flashes of play which would but when they fall apart, they really collapse. The situation has club officials lying awake nights trying to find the key to the problem. They are hopeful that the return of Brian Gibson to action may help solve part of the situation and the acquisition of a bruising 230 lb.
