The 156-pound second baseman hit his first homer in the fifth inning to halve a 2-0 Chicago.lead and the other, a 420-foot blast, in the seventh to give the Dodgers a 4-2 advantage. Also getting into the home run act was pinchhitter Chuck Esse- glan of the Dodgers. His blow into the upper deck at Comiskey Park tied the score 2-2 in the seventh inning. The teams left immediately for Los Angeles for the third game Sunday starting at 5 p.m. EDT. 'Redmen No 'Match For Big Blues By RON ANDREWS TORONTO (CP) -- University of Toronto Blues opened their football season Friday night with a 42-1 victory over McGill Uni- versity Redmen. But they came off second-best in the injury de- partment. Toronto coach Dalt White said |his blues, nearing the two - year mark in their unbeaten record in ball Union, finished the game SPORTS MENU By Geo. H. Campbell SPORTS EDITOR 'Everything From Soup To Nuts' THE WORLD SERIES returned to a sane level again yesterday, following that almost weird beginning on Thursday. Friday's 4-3 victory by the Dodgers did more than merely tie up the series and assure the Los Angeles fans (not to mention those in the rest of Cali- fornia, Texas, Mexico, etc.) that there will be three games played in the Coliseum. Now the leagues, "parks" and pension fund stand to add greatly to their income, for they expect about 100,000 to cram into the L.A. ball park tomorrow afternoon, and also on Monday and Tues- day. A couple of "Charlies" were in the limelight yes- terday, Charlie Neal made a "boob" in the first inning to help White Sox grab an early two-run lead but be- fore the game was OVer, Neal hit two homers, his sec- ond good for two runs and in between, Charlie Essegian, as a pinch-hitter no less, homered to tie the score and start off the big three-run rally in the 7th; that won the game for Dodgers. Johnny Podres gets credit for the win and he came out of the game when Essegian went in as a pinch-hitter. Then Larry Sherry took over the pitching chore and finished out the game nicely. Now the scene shifts to the West Coast, with the teams tra- feeling plenty of bruises. "McGill always gives us a rough time," White said "Joe Foreman's out with a broken ankle and several of our other players are feeling their lumps. It was the same last year." For the first 15 minutes it ap- peared to 11,932 fans the Red- men would give Toronto a [troublesome evening. McGill held Neal Escapes Goat's Mantle With 2 Blows 20. Since then they've outscored their opponents 352-88. The fourth and fifth games also will be played in California Mon- day and Tuesday. SHAKY INNING Neal juggled what appeared to be a perfect double play ball in the first innipg. Big- Ted Klu- |szewski, hero of Chicago's 110 |victory in the first game, hit a smash that the skinnv second- sacker couldn't trap fast enough. Chicago's Jim Landis, who had been on first base, raced to sec- ond and Luis Aparicio, on third, ran for home. Neal fired to first to get Big Klu. Then Chicago catcher Sherman Lollar hit sharply to Neal's left. Charlie couldn't hold the ball and Landis scored to give the Sox a 240 margin. Lollar, no speed demon, was out by at least 10 feet. Trailing 4-2 going to the last of the eighth, the Sox brought the crowd to life with successive singles by Kluszewski and Lollar. Larry. Sherry, who had taken over after starter Johnny Podres, {who got credit for the win, left |for Essegian, had nobodv out. Al Smith slammed a double to left centre, easily Torgeson, running for Kluszew- ski. Lollar also tried to score, all the way from first, and was nailed at the plate. This imme- diately raised speculation as to whether Lollar should have tried to make it with nobody out and his team still trailing by one run.
