Hoogeweg, 23, convicted of manslaughter in the slaying last January of John Hawkes, 32, testified Monday against a companion charged with murder in connection with : the same beating death. On trial is John Reville, 27, in whose home Hawkes was a boarder. Hoogeweg was origin- ally charged with murder but was convicted on the lesser count and sentenced to seven years.
