MARY HAWORTH'S MAIL HEIRLOOM! By ALICE BROOKS Set your table or buffet with] spring flowers -- so gracefully arranged against lacy mesh. Tulips, pansies, roses -- ever-| Psychiatric Help Indicated To Unravel Girl's Problem Dear Mary Haworth: I hardly know how to begin my letter; there are so many thoughts going round in my head at the moment. Some time ago I was invited to mygirl friend's home and there I met her elder sister, whom I shall call Jane. She is tall, dark, around #5 years of age; and, to me, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. She left me spellbound and I just can't forget her. I felt that she is all that a girl would want, in a mother or sister. My mother is dead, and my sister is married and lives away. 'And I never knew my own mother too well, as we were separated so much during my formative years. She loved me with all her heart and was good to me, but I feel that I've never really had the love I reaction to Jane's appearance and personality. Evidently she happens to click with your unconscious inner im- age of the ideal woman; or femme fatale; or elusive, out-of- reach lovely mother figure. Or maybe a blend of all three. The fact that you nurse a twinge of self-pity about your never fully satisfied hunger for mother love suggests that you may have been always an ui- happy rival, in relation to your sister on that score. Possibly the unexpected encounter with Jane somehow stirred up the emotional residue of the past, maybe by rousing your wistful envy of your girl friend, for having such a wonderful older sister to love and be loved by. LEARN TO LIVE Perhaps then and there you in- volved both your girl friend and Jane in a mixed-up transference situation, in your i wear off, and blow away, ¥ you give them time. It would be nice if you had a confidante, with whom to talk yourself out of this mind--by identifying the "friend with your sister, and Jane with your mother, and feeling "left out in the cold" as compared to their closeness in family kinship. May- be you jegan to yearn for an inti- mate status with Jane, as a sort of throwback to your childhood longing for a preferential rating with your mother. If there is anything offbeat about your spellbound interest in Jane, you may be sure that it isn't rooted in abnormality in your personality. Just put it down to the fluttery response of your| immature emotions, to the im- pact of her high voltage magne- | tism. She is probably a dynamic] character, with a lof of mascu-| line competence cloaked by her | womanly good looks, who capti-| vates acquaintances wherever she goes. As for what to do, don't do| anything, Learn to live with pass-| ing emotional: storms. They'll infatuati for such it is, essen- tially. If you feel you must verb- alize, or crack under the strain of self-containment, arrange for a soul searching chat with a good psychologist. M.H. Dear Mrs. WRT. : This so-called "fading among certain fabrics of Dacron-rayon blend is not un- ow common. Actually it isnt o fading at all. Investigations revecled that in the Ddcron- rayon blends, one set of yarns, asually the rayon, is dyed o dork shade and blended with a white yarn, usually Dacron. When you see the fabric it all appears to be one solid solor, The so-called "fading" comes from "pilling" which is the result of wear. "Pilling", 8s you know, is' the bunching together of fibres on the sur- face of the fabric into tiny alls. It appears faded when actually one of the blended colors is worn oway exces- sively due to "piling". Abrasion alwoys will couse @ loss of color in any fabric, Rubbing or flexing a fabric against itself or another sur- face may cause the dye to rub off. However, in certgin Dacron-rayon blends beware of pilling which may cause @ oss of color. It isn't faded. Please don't blame your loun- derer or cleaner.
