A brash young man is making a set at you. The name? Macaulay. His purpose? To be your leader. Twice "Honorable", Robert William Macaulay is Minister of the new Depart- ment of Energy in the Ontario Govern- ment and second vice-chairman of On- tario Hydro. He is also the most colorful, most controversial and probably the most non-confused man in Ontario politics to- day. Mr. Macaulay, at 38, is a man with an aim. He intends to be Prime Minister of Ontario. From there, who knows? But Ontario premier, definitely. In Ontario politics, in. recent years not noted for either fire or color, he amounts to something spectacular. If you are in the corridors of Queen's Park and a slim man impeccably dressed to the extent of being "dapper", comes along in a great hurry carrying a calf-hide attache case (the "thin" model), that's Macaulay. Nobody else at the parliament buildings dresses as well or hurries as much. If you happen to be in the house and hear a man speaking in a somewhat high but strong voice, often emotional but always clear to his point, cynical about the opposition, but still not clumsy in praise of his own party, a man you mark at once as an able parliamentarian, that's he. When you combine oratory with brains, imagination and political skill, he is the best speaker in the Legislature. If you happen to be on a mission that either falls within no regular department or perhaps is a bit too involved for the incumbent of one you will probably be ushered into an office that is just as well- groomed as the man behind the desk. And once again, that's he, The Macauleys in their Rosedale (Toronto) home
