To the ice-fisherman, there is no greater sanctuarv from the worry of the worka- day world than the little ice hut, heated by stoves using oil or briquettes. The huts have little windows, comfortable seats, and often, bunks, portable radios and even television sets. Many of the huts are made of light plywood. The ice-fishermen are now an economic force to be reckoned with. The sport means a great deal to the residents of the Lake Simcoe area, for example. They build huts and rent them, act as guides, supply meals, fishing tackle and bait for the thousands who head for the lake through the winter months. Officials of the Department of Lands and Forests have estimated that with 3500 huts on the lake, each hut containing two to four people, an average of around $50,000 is being spent each weekend by the visiting anglers. This is for the hardy fisherman. i
