HOSPITAL Miss Gertrude Bryan of Whit- by, right, the first superinten- dent of nursing at the Ontario Hospital in Whitby, poses with the present superintendent, Miss Helen Whitman. On Sat- urday over 250 former gradu- ate nurses from all over Can- ada and the United States registered for thre second Alumnae Association Reunion at the hospital. The highlight of the reunion was the unveiling of a portrait of Miss Bryan who was the superintendent of nursing from 1921 to 1933. She is 88. The reunion was the second of the Alumnae Associa- tion in the 40 years of its existence, the first taking place eight years ago. --Oshawa Times Photo WHITBY And DISTRICT 795 Enter Tourney Of Whitby Rifle Club Over the weekend 75 sporting, rifle enthusiasts answered the in- vitation of the Whitby Rifle Club when they competed In the An- nual Tournament at the club's outdoor range on D'Hillier street. Many clubs from southern On- tario were represented in the four classes of Master, Expert, Sharp shooter and Marksmen, There were 10 events which calered for the three methods of shooting the sporting .22 rifles on the 25 and 50 yard ranges.
