CAKES DATE CAKE Preheat oven to 350. 1 cup boiling water 1 cup chopped dates 1 tsp. baking soda 13% cups sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder L 34 tsp. salt 3% cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 1 egg (beaten) 1 tsp. vanilla 3% cup chopped walnuts Method: Pour boiling water over dates and soda and let them stand for 10 minutes.
