No. 428 saw their new temple dedi- cated by MW Bre. C. MacL. Pitts Grand Master of the Grand Lodge AF and AM of Canada in the Province of Ontario Tuesday dedicated the new Port Perry Masonic Temple before Masonic dignitaries from all parts. of Ontario. In a simple, impressive cere- mony the Grand Master said "May this temple be the home of brotherly love, relief and truth, | and may we be enabled to exem- plify our work in full assurance of the fulfilment of Thy great promise." W. Bro. Hon. M. B. Dymond, | chairman for the ceremonies, in- | iroducing the Grand Master, | stated it was the third time that | the lodge had been honored with a visit from a holder of the effice. The last time was in 1907. HISTORY OF LODGE Referring to the long history of the Lodge, he said it was found- ed in 1892 and the first meeting was held June 10 of that year. Meetings were then held in what is now the Oddfellows' Hall. The charter members were former members of Prince Albert Lodge, | AF and AM No. 183. Furniture for the Lodge was purchased from Prince Albert Lodge for| $150. and he noted that the Mas-! fer's and the Warden's chairs, | Master and the altar. purchased at that, time, are still in use. After various moves. the Lodge finally settled in the Blong Block January 7, 1907, when the Grand Master dedicated the new premises. A Grand Master had never again visited the Lodge until Tuesday. The premises were occupied until February 10, 1959 AMBITION REALIZED From the ,time that the Lodge moved into the rented quarters at the Blong Block, it had been | the ambition of the Lodge to] acquire quarters of its own. This | was realized. especially through | the efforts of the ruling Master, | in 1958, W. Bro. N. W. Heayn. | who worked tireleg¢sly on the new | project to bring it to completion. | | There were 260 guests seated at the dinner served by mem- bers of Blue Ray Chapter, East- ern Star under Worthy - Matron | Mrs. Gordon Carnegie. Bro. Rev. R. H. Wylie pro-| nounced the blessing, following which there were toasts to HM| the Queen and the Craft, and! presentation of head table guests] by W. Bro. Dymond, who also! proposed the toast to the Grand Master and Grand Lodge.
