Ross Mae- donald and Senator T. D'Arcy Leonard (L--Ontario), Senator Macdonald said the maximum annual pension of $3, 000 for Commons members is in- adequate, ungenerous, meagre, scanty and unrealistic. Senator Leonard said it is une Justifiably low and should be sub- stantially increased. p The two senators made their plea shortly before the upper house gave second reading--ap- proval in principle--to a govern- ment bill to increase pensions re- ceived by judges. Senator Leonard said that un- der the bill a judge's annual pension will be $11,266, or two- third of his present salary. Om the death of a judge his widow would receive $3,750 a year for the rest of her life. The maximum pension paid to a ber of the C was $3,000 lly.
