Last night at Alex- andra Park, the Queen City club lived up to expectations, out-slugging Oshawa Tony's 12- 7. Victory ran "Red" Gilbert's club unbeaten streak to three - straight. Meanwhile Tony's season's mark stands at 1-1. The visitors were minus three regulars from the starting line-up namely Dick Gibb, Ron Anderson and Al Mugford. Dependable' 's still showed plenty of *'punch', blast- ing out 12 hits including three home runs. "Bev" Smith, Oshawa's 24- year-old righthander, making his first start in senior company was tagged with the loss. He lasted two complete innings with Al Sullivan finishing up .Tony's also showed power at the plate with 12 hits, including two cir- bagger. on an cuit smashes. In the same league, Canadian Tire didn't bother waiting as they trounced Gower Real Es- tate 21-7. This game was played at Harman Park. Defensive play rather than pitching was responsible for the| tight game between the Plum- bers and the Pavers. Jones started things off for Hoy Paving in the sixth when he got on the paths, then promptly stole an extra base. Tutak flied out to right field, leaving it up to Milne, who got a double, stole a base and allowed Elliot to fly out to center - field for a sacrifice which drove in the second run. Foley's were not a threat this time out, with no batter ad- vancing past second base Each team had five hits; Earle walked none, struck out 5. Maxwell walked four, and struck out three.
