PAGE EIGHTEEN Cape cog Davig Knit wool jersey suit by Pattulo-Jo Copeland Collars are back but small. Originala calls them "upright little collars". Others refer to them as "rings". They continue to stand away from the neck. Many coats sport self stoles. Last season's interest in capes has flourished, with Pauline Trigere the chief exponent. Her capes are full, dashing and often hooded. Most coats are voluminous, fall straight in the back by means of shoulder folds. These bulky coats usually have huge low-placed patch pockets, One of the most dramatic is photographed here--a red cape-coat designed by David Kidd for Arthur Jablow. The other important coat silhouette is the tubular look; but it no longer tapers in at the hemline. Originala's variation of this slimmer coat is called the "echo-shape". The slight flare at the shoulders--and a broader shoulder is a fashion fore- ' cast--repeats at the hemline. HE real coat news is another forecast--the look for next sea- _ son, previewed in a few of the coats shown by such trend-setieis as ONTARIO TODAY THE AMAZING NEW CELLULOSE FILLER Cutaway overblouse, Herbert Sondheim. Pauline Trigere, Originala, Monte- Sano & Pruzan. This is a high cut armhole, a shaped front, slightly curved in under the bust. Again, the raised waistline look previously mentioned. Perhaps the coat that best typi- fies the look of today and tomorrow is the orange tweed by Trigere, photographed here. You will note the "ring" collar, the lowered waist- line look of the seaming and the new "high-tied" belt. There is a return this Fall to the real suit. For a number of seasons now the emphasis was on the dress- with-jacket ensemble. This is still popular, as in Herbert Sondheim's red boucle wool short jacket in the new cutaway style, over a matching dress. But the 2-piece suit is again with us. Hannah Troy favors hip- length jackets, fitted away from the body, over gently flared skirts. There are many pleated skirts, too, such as the charcoal wool photo- graphed here, with box pleats and high-buttoned jacket, by Ben Reig. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1961 Mend those cracks!
