On Friday, October 23 the Mothers' Auxillary sponsored a hat and accessories show in the Township Hall. Presi- dent Pat Sleep welcomed the fine crowd of ladies and children present and intro- duced Mrs. M. Kroes of the Sithouette Style Shoppe of Burlington who provided the delightful hats, scarves and other accessories. Six local models, Frances Fisher, Don- na Kyte, Mrs. Marwood Mc- Kee, .Dorothy Marlow, Dora Martyn and Eileen McLaugh- lin modeled the many hats. Janis Dorrell, presented a piano solo and Janet Turner sang a solo and accompanied herself on her guitar. There was a Bake Table sale of Christmas Cards, used toy table and the cadets sold candy. Lunch and a social time concluded the enjoyable evening. On Sunday morning there was an excellent congrega- tion in the United Church for the 83rd Anniversary service. Rev. V. Parsons conducted the service. The choir under} London, Ont. and two sons the direction of Mrs. Gladys Thompson, Choir leader and Mrs. Gordon Strong, organist sang two impressive anthems "Unfold Ye Portals" and "For Every Man". The guest speak- er, Rev. J. A. Payton, B.A., B.D. from Kingsview United Church, Oshawa gave a fine sermon on "The Church in the 20th Century." Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Austin Beacock who celebrated their Golden Wed- ding Anniversary on Sunday with an Open House in The Parish Hall. A report of the event will be in next week's paper. Born at Greenbank, Ont. on Sept. 18th, 1889, at the age of 16 yrs. he went to Saskatchewan where he homestead at Pasadina where he resided until 1934 at which time he took a homestead at Meadow Lake, Sask. In 1940 he moved back to Ontario with his family to London where he resided at 166 Paul St. He was the hurband of t'+ late Mary Graham who pre- deceased him in 1949.
