Family, Friends Honor Popular Couple After many months of act- ive service in France during World War 1, Roy Scott arrived home in 1919 hoping to find a wife and start a home of his own. He succeeded in his quest and so on Nov. 11, 1920, he and Miss Gladys Harrison of Myrtle, Ont. were united in marriage by Rev. Adams. Their attendants were Mr. Fred Harrison, brother of the bride and Mrs. W. Clarke (Ombra Scott) sister of the groom. It is inceresting to note that the wedding was at the lith hour of the lith day of the 11th month and that the wedding party observed the two-minute silence of re- brance before the cerem- ony The couple settled on Seott's hill just south of Sea grave where they farmed un-| til about 2% years ago when they retired to the Village. During the years Roy and Gladys experienced their hap- py times and their sorrows. They are the parents of three sons one of whom, Harold, passed away several years ago The remaining sons are Ken of Oakwood and Beverly of Oshawa. They also have 12 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren Anyone knowing Roy Seott must realize that he is of a very outgoing nature with interests both varied and wide. He is also keenly inter- ested in politics with decided leanings toward the N.D-P. Veterans affairs claim con- siderable of his time and he is an honoured member of the Port PerryLegion. And Sports! You name it and Roy can tell you all about it. Mrs. Scott on the other hand has given most of her services to the local church, having been organist and or- chestra member for a number of years. She is a quiet home- loving person who has the rep- utation of never speaking un- kindly to or of anyone. On Sunday afternoon and evening friends numbering more than 300 gathered at the church to congratulate and bring best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Scott. They came from all the local centres as well as Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay, Peterborough, Osh- awa and Toronto. Two coming from a distance were the old buddy Mr. Doug. Rutherford of New Liskeard and Mrs. Henry Topping of Montreal. The guest book was in charge of 4 granddaughters and the occasion was a real old-time re-union. Greetings are still arriv- ing but to date the couple have had messages from Gov Gen. The party started with judg- ing of best six in costume. Tawny six was chosen Akela then had the pack circle around the 2 judges to pick first and second. The 2 jud- ges who are in no way con- nected with B pack had one hard job to pick out of 36 costumes. Cub Robbie Gib- Son won Ist; Cub David Saul- nier won 2nd. This hallowe'en party was a great event for Philip Beau- champ. During the evening Mr. Joe Waldinsperger chair- man of Port Perry Scout} Association presented Philip with the-award he received from the Governor General of Canada. Philip's parents were present, also the cub who made this award possible and his parents. The party was closed after several gam- es and treat from the leaders of B pack.
