Mr. Gordon Goode admitted it was a relief, that he didn't have to start a strenous cam- paign in order to win a seat on Ontario County Board of Education for the next term. In contrast to last time, two years ago, when four were seeking the seat, Mr. Goode received an acclamation Monday night in the East Whitby Municipal Hall at Columbus. He does look quite relieved and at ease. With Mr. Goode are Mr. Wm. Goldie, clerk and Mrs. E. Houiding, treasurer of East Whitby Township. Return A. Really, how much interest do the ratepayers show in the Ontario County Board of Education, its function and the cost of operation. If a conclusion was to be drawn from the above picture, where 12 rate- payers from the municipalities of Port Perry, the Townships of East Whitby and Scugog are seated, the interest is practically nil, Monday -- Volume 105 - Port Perry, Ontario, Thursday, November 26th, 1970 -- No. 5 Ontarie County Board Of Education Gordon Goode To Serve Second Term Only a "handful" of rate- payers from the three munici- palities of East Whitby Town- ship, Village of Port Perry and - 400 Cartons Of Cigarettes Scugog Township proved their interest in the nomination of candidates for a representative to the Ontario County Board of Education. Starting with the issue of December 2, the Port Perry Star will follow this trend and begin publishing every Wednesday. This will naturally change the policy of "deadlines" for advertising as well as reading material. At present the deadline for advertising is 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The same time has also applied to news and article copy. In order to make a success of this change and we believe it will be of benefit to the advertisers, readers and ourselves, the following "deadlines" must be adhered to: Display advertising of a larger size, articles and news copy must be in the Star office by 5 p.m. Monday. Classified and smaller display ads not later than 12 noon on Tues- day. It's imperative that these "deadlines" be adhered to in the fu- ture. Any copy, whether it's advertising or news will naturally be wel- comed in the Star office even earlier than the "deadlines mentioned. W.1.; W.M.S.; Auxiliary and sports reporters are requested to send in their contributions to the Star as soon as possible following meet ings and events. It gives us the opportunity of serving you better and laying out your advertisements more attractively. We have always been met with co-operation by advertisers, readers and correspondents and sincerely hope this will continue in the fut ure. Please do not hesitate to contact us if some problem may arise from this change in policy on our part. P. Hvidsten, Publisher
