Mr. Walter Beath, County Director on the Provincial Association, spoke on the work being done by the Pro- vincial Association. He men- tioned the Canfax Information System that is now avail- able to producers at a min- imum cost of $85.00 per year, with additional charges based on the number of cat- tle marketed. President, Ralph Honey, opened the meeting at 11.00 a.m. In his opening address, Mr. Honey gave a detailed summary of the projects carried out by the club in 1970. Mr. David H. Clemons, Asst Secretary-Manager, Hol- stein Friesian Association of Canada, was the guest speaker. The topic for Mr. Clemons' address was "Marketing Hol- stein Cattle Abroad." He mentioned that the two orga- nizations, that provide the greatest assistance, are the Provincial and Federal Gov- ernments, and while many of ffville; Harvey Blackburn, Ux- bridge ; Care Bagshaw, Sunder- land; Clarence Hewitt, Beaver- ton; John Speedie, Brechin; Norm Hogg, Uxbridge; Annual Meeting, Toronto, February 25 and 26. County Director Walter Beath, Oshawa; Voting Delegates Gus Lask, Sunderland; Harvey Backburn, Uxbridge; Norm McLeod, Woodville; the programs, such as R.O.P. and health programs, are do- mestically oriented, they are particularly important in being able to guarantee the health of our cattle, and provide in- formation on production to foreign buyers. The showcase herd, established at Ottawa, is typical of many herds, and is available to buyers who wish to see the kind of cattle that are available. He particularly mentioned the importance of trade missions, and stated that we must in- vestigate new markets and produce for these mar! Sales were made to over countries in 1970. Mr. Clemons was intro duced to the meeting by Gerry Nelson, and was thank- ed, on behalf of the meeting, for his very splendid and in- formative talk by Roy Orm- iston. Mrs. "Mary Lou Carnochan and Mrs. Elizabeth Fulford, bridesmaids, were hostesses for a presentation shower ate the former's honie, RR. 2, Port Perry when the bride received many odd pieces of her china from friends. The bride's present and past co-workers were present , at the home of Mrs. Marilyn * Beacock, Port Perry, when the bride received many lovely gifts. A community shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. Charles Fee, RR. 2,% Blackstock when the happy couple was presented with a beautiful oil painting. Lindsay Presbyterial WMS. Reports from the various secretaries were then re ceived. These were review ed by Miss Lois Powrie, Re gional Secretary. It was announced that a Biennial conference for Even ing Departments will be held in Wingham April 30th to May 2nd. A very interesting letter was read from Miss Lee Anne Smith of Beaverton who had attended Glen Mohr camp as a guest of Lindsay Presby terial. An announcement was made concerning the Synodi cal Annual meeting to be held in Belleville from April 20th to 22nd. Five delegates were appointed to attend. Historic mention was made of the fact that Port Perry, WMS. had celebrated their 90th Birthday in 1970. The Theme for the after. noon Session was "Seeking| God and his ways when we fear changes. The afternoon devotions, which included the "In Me moriam Service" were beauti- fully conducted by Mrs. June Nesbitt. Mrs. Black and Mrs. Joyce Nesbitt of Glenarm Tribute was paid to members who had passed away during the year. Roll call was taken with 04 members present. A beautiful solo was sung by Mrs. Fairley of Fenelon Falls accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Bruce Currie of Manilla. Mrs. D. Whelan of Beaver. ton introduced the guest Speaker, Miss Giolla, Kelly, B.A., Executive Director of National Missions, Toronto. Miss Kelly spoke of the re assessment of W.M.S. work. To avoid duplication in the work a new General Board World Misions is being form It will integrate the work so that greater things may be accomplished. The Watch Word is "Carry On". Mrs. Veale Expressed thanks to Miss Kelly and all» who had helped in any way to make the meeting a suc cess. A nominating committee consisting of South Eldon, Fenelon Falls and Game bridge were appointed fol, 1971. An invitation to hold the Summer Rally in Port Perry was accepted.
