The Annual Ontario County Seed Pair and Feed Show was held in the Port Perry Public Sehool, on Tuesday, March 23rd, with an excellent num- ber of entries and exhibitors. 40 exhibitors showed «4 total of 105 entries The official judges were Frank Gibson, Plant Products Division, Canada Department of Agriculture, Toronto, on the grain and corn classes; Eugene Lemon, Stouffville, on the hay and silage classes; Bob Slumskie, Beef Special- ist, Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food, Mark- Ontario County Seed Fair-Feed Show dale, on the beef ration class; George Jackson, Dairy Spe- cialist, Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food, Newmarket, on the dairy ra- tion class; and Harvey Wright Soils and Crops Specialist, Ontario Department of Agri- culture and Food, Lindsay, lon the potato classes. The championships in the various classes are as fol- lows: 1. Grand Champion Award-- exhibitor winning the highest points in wheat, oats, barley & corn classes --Don Dunkeld, Claremofit 2. Ear Corn Championship-- Don Dunkeld, Claremont The afternoon program was under the direction of President, Lloyd Smith, with 60 farmers in attendance. The program consisted of a panel discussion on the topic 'Crop Storage Methods'. Speakers on the program in- cluded -- Les Smith, Port Perry, who spoke on the ad- vantages of baling and mow storage of hay; Richard Mehl, Pefferlaw, on acid treated corn vs high moisture corn; Ken Stevenson, Sunderland, on hay silage treated with formic acid; and Dr. Bruce Hunter, Crop Science Depart- ment, University of Guelph, who spoke on the use of acids in crop storage. Each speaker gave a short report on his crop handling system, and these were followed by a lively discussion period un- der the direction of Panel Chairman, Doug Miles, Farm Management Specialist, Ont- ario Department of Agricul Food.
