ZZ-- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Apri 28, 1971 Easter Sunday, April 11th, was the Maple Syrup Festival heid on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Prentice, Scugog Isiand. The day dawned bright and clear, with a feeling of spring in the air. Pancake fang arrived at the farm, walked through a field to the bush, where fires were burning brightly under the huge iron ketties boiling down the sap into maple syrup. Shelters had been erected to cook the pancakes and serve coffee. Down in the hollow, warmed by the sun, friends and neighbours enjoyed their pancakes and maple syrup.
