Robert Dockstader, head of the mathematic depart- ment at Central Collegiate, is to become a vice-principal at Dunbarton High School.} High Calibre Performance By New Theatre Society By P. Hy. Amateur theatre groups do | not have the opportunity to improve a performance by repeating it night after night. This is rather unfortun ate, since it would definitely give the performers added stage experience an! confid- and more so for ama- teurs than professionals Aft mly a couple of performances, participants on and off the stage are only 'warmed up" and will never get the chance to discover the improvement night after night performances will make. This is the point when the produc- tion is gradually reaching quality and becomes an artis- on ence er Graduates Timothy Brunton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brunton graduated from McGill Uni- versity, Montreal on June 3rd, with his Bachelor of Science Degree. Considering rehearsels have been held for less than | two months, the new theatre |group managed to give a re markably fine performance of the play It was quite apparent some of the members of the cast possessed more stage exper- ience than others and added the extra artistic touch to the performance. However, it can safely be said, that each individual member of the cast contributed their share to the success. We are reluctant to single out players in an amateur production, although several of the 20 members of the cast }at times reached almost pro- | fessional status. To give each individual credit in these columns would be far to lengthy and considering it was i* real team effort on stage and off stage, hearty con- gratulations are extended to all concerned. ; We will, however, make one exception in the case of the director, Diane Lackie. During seven short weeks, Mrs. Lackie has moulded the play- 'ers into a fine stage group and the performances Thursday and Friday certainly make one look forward to the second | stage production sometime in the fall. The cast showed their own appreciation to the director by presenting her | with » beautiful bouquet of chrysanthemums. A total of about 600 en- | joyed the performances both evenings. : "The | SECOND SECTION j Wednesday, June 2, 1971 - 43 Public School Students Perform At Music Night On May 19th, three groups from the R.
