Ballard Lumber Juniors You man think that in ord-}held Port scoreless to finally er to see top flight entertain- ing ball you must watch pros or seniors play. This was proved wrong twice last week by our local Juniors, who played two games which any club in any class would have a tough time to play better. On Thursday, July 15th the Lumbermen, minus both reg- ular pitchers who were work- ing to have Saturday off, used Roland Skinner from the Midgets. One might think that this would be an advantage for the other team, on the con- trary, Bay Ridges Int. had their hands full in squeezing out a 2-1 win in 14 innings. Roland pitched quite a game against this older team and received fine support from the rest of the team. After two scoreless innings Port scored the first run in the third as Bill Wanamakers bunt single scored Bill St. John who had walked. Bay Ridges tied the score in the bottom of the sixth on a walk, base hit and an error. The score remained the same for eight more innings until Bay Ridges finally won in the bottom of the 14th on a walk and a double. Ballard Lumber had one run on five hits and two err- ors while Bay Ridges had two runs on nine hits and one error. @n Saturday, July 17th at the Oshawa Junior Tourna- ment the Lumbermen lost the first game to Toronto Plating in an extra inning. This never say die ball club trailed three to nothing after one-half inning, but made it 3-2 after one inning. The Ballard boys then fell behind 72 which was the score entering the bottom of the seventh. In this sev- en inning.game. Thinking the game wot the Toronto team had their equipment packed away and were think- ing ahead to the second game. However the Lumber- men came to life and scored five runs to tie the game. Toronto came up with one @ in the first extra inning and win 67. Doug Hughes pitching and the rest of the team played a fine game for a Junior "C" club" against a Junior "A" club. Leading Port at the plate were Tom Lawrence with two triples, a single & three R.B.1, John MacMaster had two singles and two R.B.L, Steve Carnegie with 2 singles as did Jody Williams, Rick Beare and Bob Smith each having one R.B.1 ' The next game for this ex citing ball club is Thursday, July 22 at Port Perry against Bay Ridges at 8 p.m. cession 7, in the Township Signed NOTICE "Under the provisions of the Waste Management Act and the Regulation, notice is given that it is intended to apply to the Department of Bnergy &-~ Resources Management for e Certificate of Approval for 2 waste disposal site hocated on the South half of Lot 17, Con JOHN W.
