The question of the establishment of an airport in the Whitby – Oshawa district appears to be still in the air, although with the announced intention of the government at Ottawa to speed up the Commonwealth air training scheme, one would think that some announcement should be forthcoming.
From reliable information at hand based largely on the fact of land options being taken and property titles being searched, it would appear that the site north-west of City of Oshawa, in East Whitby Township may be chosen in preference to the site lying between Heydenshore Park and Corbett’s Point on which Whitby’s hopes have for already noted, there has been nothing definite, but it does begin to look as if there hopes are to be shattered.
If there is something the Council or Chamber of Commerce of Whitby can do to capitalize on whatever chance for Whitby may be left, it should be done at once. There is no time for delay. Mr. W. H. Moore, M. P. should be contacted at once, in the hope that some definite information one way or another may be obtained.
