BIBLE LESSON Two Witnesses Sent By Christ Scripture -- Matthew 5:18-16;; Luke 10:1-24; Acts 4:13-21. In this lesson we are given two examples of men sent forth directly by Christ, to bear wit- ness to others on His behalf. We have also the exhortation by Christ Himself to each one of us to do likewise The first example is recorded only in the passage cited from Luke. It took place in Peraea, 2 region of Palestine east of the Jordan and the Dead Sea, in De- cember 29 A.D. There Christ appointed 70 per- sons to go, two by two, before Him to all the places He planned| When called before the Sanhe- to visit. They will be worse off than Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgement, for and Sidon had not had the op- portunities for knowing the Gos- pel and repenting, as had the three cities Christ condemns. The other example of witness- ing is the famous incident re- corded in Acts I in which Peter and John healed a lame man.} For this they suffered the first] recorded persecution; it was a) mild one, as Christianity had not yet become a really obvious threat to those in power. But we must come to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Him- self. Coming to church isn't enough. The church can only point out the way to our Re-| deemer who was slain for our sins and has risen again. He must do the work. When we find rest through faith in Jesus Christ, it doesn't mean that we sit idly the rest of our life. No, He challenges us to be a yokefellow with Him. But this yoke fits well.
