Kelly's client, a 20-year-old girl, was being interviewed as a potential Crown witness in an abortion case after being inves- tigated by Metro and Pickering Township police. Police witnesses testified Kelly tried to force his way into the interrogation room and used abusive language. Kelly said he went to the po- lice station, but was forcibly prevented from entering the in- terrogation room by Sgt. Quen- nell. In the resulting scuffle he fell to the floor but did not strike the officer, unless it was inadvertently, he said. The other 'new Europe" would be that of countries in the Soviet bloc, with Yugoslavia also probably regarded as part of it. Suggestions that current em- phasis on the Europe of the Common Market overlooks dy- namic developments elsewhere, came especially from spokes- men from Yugoslavia and Po- land, but Western spokesmen agreed that the Europe of the Six is only part of the story. LOW TO START Little hope was expressed, however, that there will be any great expansion of trade be- tween the two Europes for some time to come. Even the growth of recent years was one from an abnormally low level set by the Soviet in the early post-war years. Western spokesmen said trade won't grow until Russia wants it to grow and this appears un- likely under present cold war attitudes. For the present, the effect of the Common Marke probably will be to make the division between the two Eu- ropes more distinct. Otis MacGregor, assistant sec-| retary-manager of the board,| said Tuesday a winter kill of 23 per cent and a severe dry period last fall are to blame. He said the winter kill in Kent, Essex and Lambton coun- ties, where much of the wheat is grown, averaged 30 per cent, with a high on some farms of 50 per cent. Winter kill in Huron, Perth, Waterloo and Wellington was 15 per cent. "The rest of Ontario's wheat crops came through . . . fairly well," Mr: MacGregor said.
