The organization was formed fn 1898 at the suggestion of the Countess of Aberdeen, wife of the Governor-General. The Ot- tawa club was formed to mark May Day and it wasn't until some years later that the 'women began community work. Today there are about 1,500 members in nine Ontario clubs. Court Denies Wardship For Witness Girl grevenrlled by aboot 100 per|p GALT (CP) -- Magistrate J. R. H. Kirkpatrick dismissed Tuesday an application by the Waterloo County Children's Aid Society for wardship of the in-) fant daughter of Jehovah's Wit-| = Alexander Livingston of The CAS reapplied for ward- ship for a period of six weeks after Mr. Justice Samue! Hughes in Toronto rescinded Monday a previous temporary hardship order issued Aug. 26, on the grounds the order was issued on a Sunday. The baby's father, on reli- gious grounds, had refused a blood transfusion for the child. Mrs. Hilda Livingston, mother of the child and a member of the Christian Reformed Church, supported Tuesday's application by the CAS and said she agreed to previous blood checks and two blood transfusions given the child. In dismissing the application Tuesday, the magistrate said: "The child is not a neglected case within the act governing such cases." Glen How, representing Mr. Livingston, told the hearing the CAS application was "prema- ture." and suggested there was no foundation for it in the evi- dence presented. The baby has been with her mother and grandmother at New Dundee, near Galt, since her release from hospital Satur- ay. @ 500 ROSSLANDRD @ 564KINGST.E. @ dynamic discounts make the difference The coming of crisp fall weather stimulates new pep and heartier appetites in your family...
