We are proud of our members' good fellowship and good citizenship and the work they have done to help others. We have two main projects every year, one being our adopt ed Indian boy, who is now 14 years old, and doing very well in school, thanks to our mem- bers. We take turns in writing eur boy every two weeks. Our ether project is the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Toronto to which \we'make 2 large contribution each year from our profits, Our: funds are raised each year by our annual rummage sale, which was held this year on October 24 at the CRA; from the sale of Christmas cards and candies, and a night of cards at Hillsdale Manor. We would iike to thank the ladies who came out to our card party, for mak- ing it such a success. This year our funds were con- tributed to our adopted Indian boy, the Canadian Cystic Fibro- sis Foundation, the African Stu- dents Foundation of Torontv, the Ontario Probation Service, and to Simcoe Halli Settlement House. We do not confine our mem- bership to wives of members of the Men's Civitan Club, and so we welcome any lady who may be interested in joining with 4s. Our meetings are. held every fourth Monday of each moath from September te May. We have a dinner meeting at the § dalwood Restaurant, and then a speaker and or a type of demonstration, or a fellowship night. Our new executive for this year is as follows: president, Mrs. R. Malcolmson; vice-presi- - Much To Ladies' Civitan Club dent, Mrs. J .Kietz; secretary, Mrs. G. Bayliss; treasurer, Mrs. A. Chrisomalis: corresponding secretary, Mrs. R. Coulson. We are looking forward to another very successful year. Empress of India DOE Lodge No. 26 Long Established Empress of India No. 26 is the. local ge of The Daugh- ters of England Benevolent So- ciety with lodges from the east to west coasts. Grand Lodge of- fices are in Weston, Ont. The Order itself was instituted in Hamilton in 1890. The local Lodge was formed here in November, 1893, and our oldest member is Mrs. Alice Williams who joined in 1897. Several members have 30 to. 50 years of uninterrupted membership. St. George's Guild Looks Back Humbly Over 56 Full Years Mrs. J. H. Talbot, wife of the 6th rector of St. George's Anglican Church, formed an organization known as the Wom- en's Guild about 56 years ago. A membership of ten women carried on such duties as car- ing for choir vestments, provid- ing altar linen, equipping the '|Sunday School and providing flowers for services. Membership has greatly ex- panded with the years. The Guild is divided into six groups, each with a leader who organizes the work of .each group and acts as a member of the Executive of the Guild. Over the years the main proj- ect of the Guild has been the liquidation of the mortgages, the first on the church which was joyfully burned in 1944, and Hall building. Three events are held 'each year under the auspices of: the Guild, all the groups contribut- ing their. time, talents and efforts to achieve success. The spring tea and bake sale is held in May. The Fall Luncheon held in September is well received and is a highlight of the fall season in our com- and Bazaar is held in Novem- ber and offers home bakinz, at present on the new Parish hand work and. small gifts for Christmas giving. The present officers of the Guild are: president, Mrs. W. E. Baker; past president, Mrs. F. C. Weldon; treasurer, Mrs. Norman Hinds; leaders of the groups -- Mrs. Leonard Brash, Mrs. G. H. Murless, Mrs. H. L. Wallace, Mrs. Cecil Rowden, Mrs. Ernest Parker, Mrs. W. C. Stark. OLC Alumnae Meet Regularly The Jr. Group of the Castle Chapter Alumnae is formed by graduates of the Ontario Ladies' College, Whitby, wishing to con- tinue their connection with their Alma- Mater and keep in touch = all activities within the col- lege. The members of this Chapter are from. Oshawa, Whitby and Brooklin and are very fortunate as they are within easy driving distance of the college and therefore have access to it for their yearly bridge and are able to. attend special events held at the college during the year. They have an annual bridge usually held in October at the college and the proceeds from the last year will be used to buy new drapes for one of the large reception rooms. The Chapter meets the fourth Monday of each month.
