There are 58 organizations) throughout Oshawa Presbytery and most of them were repre- sented at this meeting. Mrs. L. F. Richardson of Whitby was elected the first president. The Rev. M. Buttars of Pick- ering United Church brought a very inspiring message during the afternoon session, taking as his topic, "The Well Is Deep'. Mrs. G. A. McMullen of Toronto was the guest speaker for the evening session and presented a very interesting address regard- ing the "Challenges Facing the United Church Women'"'. A Provisional Committee under the chairmanship of the Rev. M. Buttars of Pickering had been set up early in 1961 to make aN necessary arrange- ments for this new organiza- tion. The report of the Committee on Nominations was presented by Mrs. Carl Down of Ebenezer. The Leadership Development Committee organized two Lead- ership Days which were teld in Aprit at Hampton' United Church and Albert Street United Church, Oshawa.
