Brown, Old York trail, Oshawa, were honored by a party held recently at the Kinsmen Hall on the occasion of their 40th wed- ding anniversary, with 75 rela- tives and friends present. Mrs. Brown is the former Dolly Lee, daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. William Lee and Mr. Brown is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brown. The honored couple were mar- ried in St. George's Memorial (Anglican) Church December 22, 1922. They were blessed with three daughters, Mrs. Edward Hollingshead (Kay), Brantford; Miss Marguerite Brown, Miss Anne Brown, and three sons, Robert, Earl and Gordon, all of Oshawa. They also have 15 grandchildren. The hosts for the party were Mr, and Mrs, Earl Brown with Mr. Brown as the master of ceremonies, The evening was comprised of euchre> round and Square dancing, followed by a buffet supper. During the eve- ning, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were presented with a pair of elec- tric blankets. Explorer Councillor, Mrs, Lars Christenson, instructed the girls for their induction. The Rev. John Porter attended the meet- ing and officiated at the cere- mony, giving :nerit stars to the girls. Judith Webster, Donna Rosamond, Mary Ellen Christen-' son, Deborah Brown, Susan Ris- nyk, Joanne Esposito and Bar- bara McLeish received their first red star. Barbara Reid, Linda inusamond and Wendy Willband received their first blue star. The final meeting of the year took the form of a Christmas party. The gifts exchanged will be sent to Halifax to the United Church port Worker at the Im- migration Centre to be distrib. uted to New Canadians.
