WHITBY And DISTRICT : Board Battles Over Principal's Pay Hike Dissension over a recent sal- ary raise was voiced at the Whitby Public School Board meeting this week. At a special meeting held March 4, Supervising Principal Earl Fairman was voted a $600 increase. Trustee Gwynneth Hoag and Trustee Richard Mat- thews moved and seconded a motion which read: "that Mr. Earl Fairman receive a salary of $9,000 maximum as of Sept 1, 1963". An amendment to the motion "and that Mr. Fairman be ask- ed to resign as of Aug. 31, 1964, this resignation to be in writing" was defeated. Trustees Henry Perry and John Moss voted in favor of the amendment. Trustee Perry brought the matter before the board again this week and said that he wish- ed the press to be informed of the decision made at the special meeting.
