A letter was received from that the dog bylaw would come into effect on March ist when all dogs must be tied up or on a leash. The dog control officer will enforce the bylaw as of this date, March 1. In preparing the road work this wear. the Trustees set a budget of $5,000. An amount of $2,000 is to be spent on general maintenance, snow removal, re- painting parking lines on the Main Street as well as patching. The other $3,000 is to be spent this year on new construction on Church Street south. HYDRO MEETS The Orono Hydro rage met recently when they pa for payment an account of or 327, for hydro fer the Village. This was the highest monthly cost of power yet established for Orono. The manager, E. Dent, sub- mitted projects for Hydro in 1963 which, without the cost of general administration or oper- ation, would total $10,700.00 (Ee- timate). This type of work cost in the neighbourhood of $7,500 last year. Items of cost anticipated this year would be $2400 to provide S-phase power at the municipal well sites; formers; $400 for a new service to the United Church and new transformers, $1500. Other new items include new meters and some line alterations. Mr. Dent pointed out that the @nnual audit was now being completed and that consider-| ation would be given to the mat- ter Mr. Mercer asked that a mect- ing be arranged between the Commission and the auditors when their audit is complete. In the matter of issuing de- bentures, it was said that this' would have to be done by the Township of Clarke. This is also! to be discussed with the finance! committee when the two groups meet. Mr. Dent also pointed out that the Commission would have to Pay an additional charge of $2000 for power this year as On- bag Hydro will be collecting the power account in advance by the middle of the year. White, opened with a poem and a few words of welcome, Mrs. A. Smith opened the worship portion with a piano selection. Mrs. W, Holliday then read ' 'Church Women at Pray- er". Mrs, N. Gimblett read the Scripture. The chapter, '"'The Means of Grace" from the book The Word and the Way was studied. Mrs, F. Ballard played two! selections on the accordion. Mrs, W. Holliday introduced| Miss Doris Batty from Brook- lin who gave hints and ideas on making and remodelling women's hats. The March meeting of the Evening unit of the United Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. S, Cosway with Mrs. G. Webber presiding. The meeting opened with the leader' welcoming 12 members. The worship was taken by Mrs. E. Laviolette. The program was taken from the pas The Word and the Way, chapter 5 "God and Evil', which was taken by Mrs. F. McLaughlin.
