McLean Haig for alleged conflict of interest was dis. missed Tuesday by Prince Ede ward County Judge Wilfred 8. Lane. Costs of the action were as sessed against Mr. Delong, Mr. Delong's application al leged conflict involving Mayor Haig's position as president of Moira Schuster Limited, a Belleville coal company which had business dealings with the Bay of Quinte High School board, Belleville General Hospl- tal and the city. Judge Lane said April 9 he would render a judgment after hearing evidence that the com- pany sold coal to the school board, smail quantities of fuel oil and wax to the hospital, and acted as delivery agent for salt and Coal sold to the city and the hospital, In a 10-page judgment regis. tered late Tuesday, Judge Lane ruled that, within the meeting of Ontario's Municipal Act gove erning eligibility of elected rep. resentatives, Mayor Haig had y{no interest in any city con tracts. The judge found the supplies of coal to the school board were contracted by tender for the 1962-63 winter term. Judge Lane said the mayor took office in January, 1963, and "I have dif. ficulty on these facts of offers ing any criticism of. the mayor in relation to this particular dealing." The coal contract involved Moira-Schuster only as a '"'de- livery boy" and the company had no interest in the actual sales of the salt, in which it was an intermediary for deliv. ery. Relations Lauded Between Churches MONTREAL (CP)--Rt. Rev. R. Kenneth McGuire, Anglican Bishop of Montreal, says there is marked evidence of a desire on the part of Anglicans te learn and understand the posi- tions of other churches. Bishop McGuire, speaking Tuesday to a synod of ecclesi- astical and lay delegates, said relations between Anglicans and other churches are a "cause for great rejoicing these days," He added that "great impe tus" had been given to the ecue menical trend by two important movements, the liturgical move- ment and the reawakened inter. est in biblical theology.
