Butter Make UpInCounty The production of creamery butter during June in Ontario County showed an increase of 5,159 pounds over June of last year, it is reported by the farm economics and statistics branch of the Ontario Department of Agriculture. A total of 105,960 pounds were made by the plants in the coun- ty. This compared with 100,801 pounds in June of last year, The make during the first six months of the year in the county: was 521,019 pounds compared with 420,412 pounds in the same period of 1962. In Durham and Northumber- land Counties a total of 364,342 pounds were made in June of this year. The figure for June of last year was 336,409 pounds The make for the first six months of this year was 1,588,633 pounds compared with 1,507,545 pounds in the same period of last year. Creameries in Ontario repor- ted their make of creamery but- ter during June this year at 12,396,500 pounds, practically the same as in June 1962 when the make amounted to 12,404,200 pounds. The cumulative produc- tion of creamery butter during the first six months of 1963 now totals 51,656,600 pounds as com- pared with 49,608,700 pounds in the corresponding period a year ago, for a gain of 4.1 per cent. Cold storage holdings through- out the whole of Canada show creamery butter stocks of 127, 088,000 pounds at July Ist, 1963 as compared with 110,871,000 pounds at July 1 1962. The wholesale price of cream- ery butter at Toronto during June averaged 49.6 cents per pound as compared with 49.8 cents a year ago. Stole Wallet Gets 14 Days When William Murphy plead- ed guilty at Oshawa Magis- trate's Court Friday to stealing a wallet valued at $1.49 from Kresge's store on Simcoe street south, the Crown Attorney, Bruce Affleck, said Murphy had about 100 previous convictions. Murphy asked Magistrate H. W. Jermyn for a chance, say- ing that he had not long to live, as he had a heart con- dition. Magistrate Jermyn told him: "Well, Mr.. Fluid Milk Sales Are Up The farm economics and sta- tistics branch of the Ontario Department of Agriculture re- ports sales of fluid milk by the commercial dairies in Ontario County were 42,000 quarts high- er than in the corresponding} i, month of last year. were sold in May of this year a compared with 1,030,000 quarts in May of last year.
