PREDICTS 63 DEATHS OTTAWA (CP) -- The Cana- dian Highway Safety Council predicts that 63 Canadians will die in traffic accidents over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. (CP-AP) -- A Montreal couple were charged Thursday with conspiracy to smuggle heroin into the United States after customs officials said they seized 82 pounds of heroin valued at $37,000,000 on the black market. Charged were Joseph M. Caron, 33, and his wife, Marie Ida, 30. They ap- peared before U.S. Commis- sioner Jacob Hornberger who set bonds at $250,000 each. The Bowmanville Pub- lic School Board Thursday agreed to nominate Miss Mary Aitken, a teacher at the On- tario Street School for a posi- tion with the Department in Europe. The board was complying with the request of Miss Aitken. If she should receive the appoint- ment, the board was informed, she would remain overseas for two years.
