Review Discloses Successful Year For Adelaide H&S A review of the activities of Adelaide McLaughlin Home and School Association revealed an- ether successful year. A Kindergarten Tea was held to welcome new mothers in the school at which refreshments were provided and served dy the members of the executive. The UNICEF drive by the children at Hallowe'en was. a great success, resulting in a substantial sum being collected. A fund-raising project in the form of a "Night of Cards" re- sulted in a substantial amount of money being presented to purchase books for the school library. A family skating party was held at the Children's Arena, funds for which were supplied by the Association to pay for rental of the arena and prizes for the children. A soccer plaque was pur- chased and presented to the winning soccer team in the school and sweaters were pre- sented to all the members of the Safety Patrol, both presen- tations being made at the clos- ing exercises in June. In June also, a party was held for the Grade 6 pupils, hosted by the principal Mr. H. N. St. Mark's Doubles Vigorous, New Club St. Mark's Doubles Club was organized on January 17, 1959, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wilson, who were our first presidents. We met in the various homes on the last Sat- urday of the month for the first year, until our new basement was built, and since then we have met at the church hall. We are mainly a social group, and our one big project has been our annual dance at the Airport which is to be held on January 24, 1964. With pro- ceeds from this dance we make a donation to the church for our building fund. During the past year we have enjoyed a sleigh ride, bowled, held corn and wiener roasts, attended the Lenten meeting and enjoyed films shown by the Rev. Alfred Wool- cock, rector. We also look after the mailing of our Church Mes- senger, and the decorating of our church for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Our present officers are: Past president, Mr. and Mrs, Ern- est Dobney; presidents, Mr. and Mrs. Gord Rae; vice-presi- dents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Harding; secretaries, Mr. and Mrs. 'Bud' Dawson; _ treasur- ers, Mr. and Mrs. William Howell; program, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wilson; social, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Crowells; decorat- bing, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Flutter; telephone committee, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Packer; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mc- Glashan.
