Nominees are given pe 9 p.m. tonight to qualify the campaign. Incumbent Deputy - Reeve John Dryden will be opposed by Councillor Frank Thompson for the office, Mr. Thompson declined to tun for a fourth time on Coun- ci], He was nominated for both positions. Councillors Fred Sturch and Don Roberts are seeking re- election, Opposing them for the three Council berths are John Batty, a newcomer to the politi- cal scene, and possibly Myrtle Lovelock, a former Councillor. (Mrs, Lovelock was also nom- inated for Reeve, but declined, as did former Reeve Heber Down), Newcomers John Wallace and Tom Nicholson are at- tempting to unseat the incum- bents William Manning and Hugh Ormiston in election of trustees to Township School Board, Section One. There are two members elected to this board, In Section Two of the Town- ship School Board, a five-man group, all of those nominated, are in by acclamation, provid- ing they qualify by tonight. They are: Bruce Sharrard, Gor- don Hanna, Ray Hatter, Dean Fry, and Mrs. Alex Cragie. Reeve Goodwin, after thank- ing the electors and his nomi- mators, pointed to the whole of the Council as being responsible for making.the year (1963), in his opinion, a success. He cited the committees and work of each individual coun- cillor in discussing the advances the township had made over the span.
