(CP)-- George Demeyere, chairman of the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers' Marketing Board, said Thursday he is "very dis- turbed" by recommendations of a report tabled in the legisia- ture Wednesday on the ince's flue-cured tobacco: indus- try. Mr. Demeyere said he has not had time for a close look at the report but "at first glance I am disturbed by the recommenda- tions, especially the recom- mendation for removal of pro- duction control." The report was prepared by a three-man committee, set up in 1962 by the provincial govern. ment to study the tobacco in- dusbny. The report said in one of its conclusions that production con- trol--an acreage rights svstem for growers--is no longer feasi- ble for the industry and shou.d be abandoned as soon as possi- ble. i Mr. Demeyere said the report must appear "'pretty alarming" to farmers.
