DODDS PICTON -- A newspaperman for 42 years, James. Kenneth (Jamie) Dodds, age 58, died suddenly Monday at the Picton Gazette Publishing Company plant where he was employed, He had been at work during the morning and was stricken shortly after returning to the shop after lunch. Mr. Dodds began his career at the age of 17 as an appren- tice with the Picton Times and later worked for the Oshawa Times-Gazette, The Trenton Courier - Advocate, The Quinte Sun, Trenton and General Print- ers, Oshawa, before returning to Picton to join 'the Gazette. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn. McDonald, so- cial editor of The Picton Ga- zette; three children, Catherine Baker, Glenora road, and brother, Hugh Dodds of Otta He was predeceased by brother, Max B. Dodds of Gananoque Reporter. Funeral service was held the Whattam Funeral Home in wood Cemetery. MRS. JOHN HAGGERTY In failing health for the past 10 years, Mrs. John Haggerty of Whitby diec at lew Lodge Monday. She was in her 84th year. Born at Marmora she was the former Ellen Leonard and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leonard and had lived at Stirling before moving to Whitby 10 years ago. She was a member of the An- glican Church. Pre-deceased by her husband, John Thomas Haggerty in 1943, she is survived by four daugh- ters, Mrs. Vern (Edna) Harris, Mrs. William (Helen) Thorn- dyko, Mrs. Max (Clara) Rich and Mrs, Florence Gudgeon, all of Whitby; one son William Hag- gerty of Brooklin, and seven grandchildren. . She was the last of her fam- ly. The funeral service was held in St. John's Anglican Church, Stirling, at 2.30 p.m. Wednes- day, April 22. Interment was in Stirling Cemetery. CHESLEY FOREST SALTER The death of Chesley Forest Salter, a resident of Hillsdale Manor, occurred at the Oshawa General Hospital Wednesday, April 22, in his 91st year. Born in Scotch Village, N.S., May 1, 1873, Mr. Salter moved at an early age to Waltham, Mass., where he lived until com- ing to Oshawa in 1954. He mar- ried the late Edith Tozer in Waltham and was a member of by a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Burton (Marion), of Oshawa; a sister, Mrs. Martha Mitchell, of Spokane, Washington and two -»|dren, Bonnie and Billie Burton, of Oshawa. He was predeceas- ed by a sister, Anne and two brothers, Frank and Benson Sal- ter. The funeral service will be conducted in the McIntosh - Anderson Funeral Chapel, Fri- day, April 24, at 3 p.m., by Rev. L, W. Herbert, minister of King Street United Church.
