Town Line – Many were the inquiries as to what Mr. West intended doing with the proceeds of the concert held in the Town Line School on Mar. 11th. He wished to state that it affords him great pleasure to invite anyone interested to come and see the “Cyclopedia” and the “Copying Pad” that were purchased with the proceeds and a grant of five dollars by the trustees. The cyclopedia is a copy of Blackie’s Modern Cyclopedia, eight volumes, leather binding, half morocco. It contains clear and concise information on almost every subject. The advanced pupils are quickly learning the value of such a work in their school. The pupils and teacher are highly pleased at being able to add such a valuable work to the equipment of the school. The pad is the “Success” copying pad. It is very useful in taking a number of impressions from an original copy. The Success will give from 100 to 200 from the one stamp. The pad is a good help on written examination work. Instead of writing the examination questions on the blackboard, a sufficient number of copies is printed with the pad to give a copy to each pupil. This training assists the pupils to become accustomed with the printed examination papers for Entrance exams. We must not forget the excellent “slate” blackboards that were placed in the school last term. They were purchased from Messrs. E. N. Moyer & Co., Toronto. The slate makes the best kind of a blackboard for school use. We have nearly 1800 sq. feet of blackboard surface. These boards were put up in our school by Mr. R. Oke in a very workman – like manner. Allow us to say that we have a progressive school board in the persons of Geo. O’Connor, M. Mackey and Wm. Oke. Mr. Wm. Carruthers was a member of the board at the time the blackboards were procured.
