Thursday, June 4, 1964 QY Anti-Union Accusation Baffles OHA TORONTO (CP)--An official of the Ontario Hospital Associa- tion Wednesday expressed sur- prise at a statement made by the Canadian Union of . Public Employees, charging the OHA bene tay" te tia "an anti-union Certified Nursing Assistants, The accusation was made in ar ne peat » national presi 85,000-member CUPE. Mr. Little saiq the ACNA has been telling nursing. assistants that a union would endanger their individual democratic rights and that the group has been using Toronto offices of the OHA for meetings to this end. "We can only assume there has been some misunderstand. ing," the OHA official said. He said the accusations seemed to be based on two une related facts: 1. An article in a recent news- letter of the ACNA, which ap- parently criticizes unions. 2. The ACNA is holding an educational conference at OHA headquarters here next. week. Next week's 'meeting is one of many conferences of this nature which the OHA co-sponsors ev- ery year for hospital groups, the official said. | To imply, as the CUPE did, that the OHA is encouraging an janti-union campaign by allow- ing ACNA to use its offices for meetings is misleading, the of- |ficial said. 'Selectives _ 'Sparkle On Market | TORONTO (CP)--A group of selected issues outshone the re- mainder of the stock manket Wednesday as the trading pace eased from recent levels. + Only the western oil index managed to show a gain and the key exchange Index -- a measurement of the health of all segments of the market-- dipped .58 to 145.70. In the western oil list, Home A climbed % to 20% and Hud- son's Bay Oil was up % to 18. Massey-Ferguson jumped 1% to $30 before settling for a gain of 1 at $20% as the standout of the industrial list, Texaco was also up 1 to$61 while LA.C., trading ex-dlividend 50 cents, was ahead % to 2544. CPR led the main list lower. It slipped 1% to 45 and Algoma Steel 1 to $6834. Distillers Sea- gram and Dominion Tex- tile were each off % to 56% and 26% respectively. A late spurt of buying in Leitch and Highland-Bell fea- tured base metals. The former iclimbed 65 cents to $4.70 and |the latter 75 cents to $6.25. The group was otherwise lower in slow dealings. Speculative mining issues were mixed as volume declined. Bunker Hill and Norbeau slipped three cents to 60 cents and 74 cents. MacDonald and Trinity Chi- bougamau were each ahead two cents at 454% and 2é4cents re- spectively. On index, industrials were down .69 to 155.90, golds 12 to 134.49, base metals .18 to 63.89. Western oils were up .59 to 100.83. Volume for the day was |4,422,000 shares compared with 5,425,000 shares traded Tues- day. 'Shastri Asks 6 To Join 'His Cabinet NEW DELHI (Reuters)--Lal |Bahadur Shastri, Indian prime |minister-designate, has asked six senior ministers of the late |Prime Minister Nehru's cabinet \to serve in his new government, |to be formed next week. Informed sources said the ministers were Gulzarilal Nanda, who holds the home |portfolio and now is caretaker jprime minister; T. T. Krishna |Machari, finance minister; Sar- dar Swaran Singh, food minis- |ter; Y. B. Chavan, defence min- jister; M. C. Chagla, education minister; and Satyanarayan |Sinha, information and broad- |casting minister, It was not immediately known |whether they will retain their present portfolios but most are expected to do so. Shastri was expected to take several days to complete his government, which is due to be sworn in with him .on June 9. Meanwhile, Sheikh Moham- med Abdullah, former prime minister of .Kashmir who re- cently had talks with Nehru and President Ayub Khan of Paki- stan on the Kashmir question, had a one-hour meetirig with Shastri Wednesday. Abdullah said after the meet- ing he would visit Pakistan again, but only after Shastri's return from the Commonwealth prime ministers' conference in London in July,
