Al Wood Winner Skeet Club Shoot Allan Wood, one of Oshawa's outstanding skeet shots, was the winner of the 'strange gun tour- nament" at the Oshawa Skeet Club on Sunday. Al was award- ed the Paul's Sports Trophy and 100 rounds of the mew Reming- ton plastic shots shells. Although Wood and Rick Sher- idan were tied in the tournment with 17 broken targets out of 25, the trophy was awarded to A! on the basis of the most broken successive targets. As a result of this classifica- tion, Rick Sheridan was award- ed the utility lantern for second place honors. This prize wsa donated by Seaway Motors ot Oshawa through the courtesy of Bob Taylor. Third place performance was turned in by Bob Snowden of the Scarborough Rod and Gun Club who broke 16 targets. Here again it was the longest run of successive targets which deter- mined the winner, as Bill Rudyk and Pete Troski also broke 16 Oshawa Animal Hospital, for his) fine shooting. Twenty-seven contestants took part in this unique type of shoot and when one considers the im- practical types of guns used for the event, some real good scores were turned in by the shooters. Among some of the more out- Standing scores were Harry Palmer, John Carnwith and Jack Parker with 15 each, Gord Tomlinson, Paul Branton, Russ} Watson and Doug. Branton each broke a 14. Other good scores were by Bob Taylor, Tom Minor, Nelson Starr, Bob McCoy, Geog: Brown and Harry Ingleton wita 13 each. Art, Brock, Eddie Ka- minsky and Herman Sweetman turned in 12 each, with Bill Carnwith breaking 11, Dr. Barry Wood came in with 10 as did Stan Starr, The other contest- ants were Wilbur Newlands 9, Herb Bishop 8 and B. Gumper 5. The Oshawa Skeet Club wishes to express their appreciation to targets. Bob Snowden received a jewel case, donated by the the donors of the prizes for their generosity and co-operation. A ROUGH ONE © Oshawa Green Gaels moved back into a tie for first-place in the OLA Junior League last night defeating Hastings Legion- naires 17-10 in one of the best and roughest games of the sea- son. Both Gaels and Brampton Anmstrongs have 12 points, on six wins and two defeats, and lead Hastings by two points. Alderwood is fourth in the eight- team league with eight points. The Gaels treated the 600 fans here at the Children's Arena to their best team effort of the season, despite the fact they were without the services of Jim Higgs, Brian Thompson, Larry Ireland and Dave Hous- ton, because of exams. Hastings started the game like a ball of fire beating the Gaels constantly to the ball and took a 3-0 lead before the game was seven minutes old. However, Oshawa rallied in the same period and evened the count at 5-5 after the first 20 minutes, The big Hastings crew came lout in the second and third |periods hoping to outmuscle the Green Gaels, but defenceman Joe Kiwior and Jim Hinkson had other ideas. Hinkson fought twice with Jack Armour and both times won clear-cut de- cisions. DAVIS SHARP John "Shooter" Davis paced the Gaels' attack with six goals Gaels Triumph Over Hastings and three assists. The nine, points boosted his league-lead- ing points total to 54, 15 more than Ron McNeil of Alderwood. Davis also took over the scor- ing leadership with 34 goals, two more than McNeil.
