Editor Sees Church Back In Ukraine WINNIPEG (CP) -- Re-estab- lishment of the Ukrainian Cath- olic Church in the Ukraine is a distinct possibility, Walter Dushnyck of New York told 500 delegates Saturday at the five- day eighth triennial conference of the Ukrainian Brotherhood of Canada. Mr. Dushnyck, editor of a 35,000 circulation Ukrainian quarterly, told delegates at a banquet that possible re-estab- lishment of the church arose in the wake of the last Vatican ecumenical council, which ended in Rome Dec. 3, "There is a possibility of the restoration of the Ukrainian Catholic Church under the So- viet regime and the establish- ment of a separate Ukrainian Catholic patriarchate," he said. Establishment of the church Cyprus Blast -- Damages | Water Line NICOSIA (AP)--A bomb ex- plosion damaged the water pipeline to the British military base at Dhekelia for the third time in two days, the United Nations reported Sunday. The pipeline carries water to some 10,000 British military men and their dependents. The blast, which caused only minor damage, occurred Satur- day night near Athna Forest, a UN spokesman said. In the same area two explosions broke the pipeline Friday. The main pumping station was destroyed by a bomb earlier in the week. Similar explosions occur reg- jularly every simmer when \Greek farmers complain the British base reduces the water available in Greek wells for ir- rigation. The base, however, has a desalination plant that converts 500,000 gallons of sea- water into drinking water daily 'and the explosions cause no |hardship to the British families. The UN also reported gunfire broke out in the tense north- west seacoast area between Greek Cypriot and Turkish- Cypriot villages and the body of a dead Turkish shepherd was found in a well on the south side of the island. was the Work of 17 metropoli- tans, archbishops and bishops of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the free world, he added. A sjgnificant development fa- voring the church's restoration in the Ukraine was the recent release of Archbishop Joseph Slipyj. He had been held pris- oner in a concentration camp for 18 years. Mr. Dushnyck said the church, was abolished throughout the) Soviet Union, including the) Ukraine, in 1931 by Stalin. | landing |} ~ SUMMER SHOP OT Scan These Ads For Good Ideas in SUMMER SHOPPING SPECIALS!
