M. Starr Addresses Students At MCVI By R. GLECOFF : Michael Starr visited Mc-|i Laughlin Collegiate and Voca-|° tional Institute Dec. 7, He was the second speaker in a series of six invited to the school. The first was Dr. Pauline Jewett who spoke on the pro- cess of becoming a parliament- ary representative. Mr, Starr, who was minister of labor from 1957 to 1963, addressed us on the duties of a cabinet minister. Fol- lowing his speech was a ques- tion period, which gave some}; MCVI Parliamentarians aj; chance to quiz Oshawa's MP on the nation's business. Our next speaker will be T. C. Douglas, if his schedule will per- mit. These visits*are of great|t interest and benefit to the stu- dent body. They give more}; knowledge about and create fur- ther interest in our government, on all three levels: Mr. Palmer Skits For < h Reviewed By RUTH ANNE TAVES The skits for Christmas Capers at Central Collegiate In- stitute, have been handed in to the skit committee and a few! have already been deleted. This week the remaining skits will be reviewed and several more will be removed. The reviews take place on Monday, Tuesday and 'Wednesday. From conversations overheard it is easy to gather 'that this year's Capers shoud be the best and most interesting = Don't forget the date -- onday Dec. 21. The Art Club has set the Christmas mood. It has begun its annual decoration of the school windows with Christmas designs and pictures. They are floing a fine job as usual. As most of you know, Cen- tral's boys' basketball teams fhave been playing exhibition games recently. Now the girls are preparing to get into the act. Both the junior and senior 1s' teams have been doing a lot of practising lately. Good luck in your games, girls! Meanwhile the boys have started playing intra-mural vol- leyball at noon hours. If they are of the same general quality as those seen last year, the Caleigh will undoubtedly be "'uproarious"'. Lastly, the MCVI Parliament will meet tonight. The main item on the agenda for this and the next few sittings will be that to the MCVI Constitution. The last two sit- tings were mainly concerned with this also. Out of roughly 25 amendments, these two sit- tings consumed about half of them. The Student's Parliament sits for three hours per sitting, so it's obvious that the amend- ments are rather complicated.
