When we finished the meal we all went back to the bedroom to say good-bye. There sat my sister-in-law breast feeding her baby. Since then our children who are 11, nine, seven and five years of age have been bothering me with questions about sex. I am furious with my sister- in-law for placing me in this embarrassing position. I hadn't figured on mentioning sex to my children until they were older, This stupid woman knew we were leaving for home right after dinner. Why couldn't she have waited another 30 min- utes? I'd like to take this matter up with her but I don't know what to say. She reads your column religiously so will you please lambaste her for rudely leaving the table and behaving in this repulsive manner in front of my children?-- DISGUSTED Dear Disgusted: I see nothing rude or repulsive in-your sister- in-law's behavior but I see much that is ignorant and oaf- ish in yours. She was seeking privacy and you invaded her room. So why criticize her? Furthermore, if your children don't know how life begins and how infants are nourished by their mothers, it's time they learned. You say you planned on tell- ing them when they were "older." How much older? You are seven years too late with that 11-year-old right now. Ask your doctor for some lit- erature to guide you. And get going, or you'll have four kids who are as mixed up as you are, lady. Dear Ann Landers: A friend of mine whom I will call Mrs. R. asked if she could borrow my card table set. Three weeks later Mrs. R. started divorce proceedings. I didn't want to bother her about wife and their newborn s0n.|y, Children Thwarted By Ignorant Mother my table and chairs at that time. The next I heard she had moved into an apartment. That 'day I telephoned Mrs. R. and asked her to please return my card table set, She said, "I did. Immediately after the party," I asked "to whom," and she replied, "I left them On your porch." ae T'm so burned T'd like to take her to court. Should 1? FAVOR-DO-ER Dear Do-er: Mrs. R. should not have left the card table set on the porch. A person of in- tegrity would have offered to buy you a new set, but ob- viously she is a ciphre. Suing her would mean ex- irritation, Forget it. And forget about her, too. Dear Ann Landers: How can I keep my sanity when the boy I love turns up at a dance with a girl I hate? T have loved Jimmie since the third grade. The girl he took to the dance Saturday wouldn't pour a glass of water on him if he were on fire--then she found out I was crazy about him and went all out to take him away. This cheap little flirt has done the same thing to two other girls. The only boys she wants are the ones who belong to someone else. Why would a boy drop a fine girl like me for a terrible per- son like her? Seeing them to- gether tears me up something awful. How can I-get Jimmie back?--ROBBED FROM Dear From: The girl didn't knock him over the head and drag him off, did she? I don't believe a boy friend can be "stolen." As with tactful at all, but face it: in any job, as well as in other spheres of life, you will find some persons you dislike but, if you would attain the success that can be yours, you must learn to handle such situations, since all associates can be help- ul. Be especially alert to the above in February and October, when you could have difficulty with partners or co-workers if not careful.
