Gay, of Courtice, died at the Oshawa General Hospital Monday, Feb. 22 after a long illness, He was in his 8lst year. He was born in Courtice in 1884, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gay. He lived in the Oshawa-Bowmanville-Cour- tice area all his life. He mar- ried the former Millie L. Jack- son in Bowmanville on Dec. 13, Mr. Gay was president of Gay Company Limited of Oshawa. He was an active member of Ebenezer United Church, Cour- tice, and the oldest surviving member of Bowmanville Odd Fellows. An ardent sportsman, he was for years a member of the Osh- awa Curling Club and played baseball for Oshawa in the Cen- tral Ontario League. Mr. Gay was predeceased by his wife 'Millie last year, and by one sister Ethel Courtice and four brothers, Burt, Milton, Arthur and Frank Gay. He is survived by three daughters: Velma of Bowman- ville, Bernice of Toronto, and Jean of Courtice; and by one son, Harry Gay of Courtice. Two grandchildren also survive. Mr. Gay is resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home for service in the chape] Thursday, Feb, 25 at 2 p.m. Rev. J. P. Romeril of Ebenezer United Church will conduct the service.
