Scouts Mark Anniversary GREENWOOD -- The fourth | annual Father and Son Banquet "was held last Saturday by the 1st Greenwood Scout and Cub Group in Greenwood United Church. Sixty-eight fathers and sons attended. The ladies auxil- lary, with Mrs. Douglas Morden as convener, Catered for the dinner. The tables were decorated by Mrs. Culford. The head table was centered with candles and @n anniversary cake decorated with Scout and Cub emblems. "hag Hooker chaired the gather- ving. Among the special guests were: Rover Leader Don Good- win and his son, Steven; Cub- master and District Cubmaster' Ken Brooks; Assisitant Cub- master Ron Hoar, Scoutmaster Douglas Morden and his son, Lloyd; Assistant Scoutmaster, Art Stevenson and his son, Gary; Jack Hooker, chairman of the group committee and his son, Gordon; Rev. T. Fleetham and Bobby Attersley, of Whitby, who was the guest speaker. Seated at a special table were members of the group commit-| tee. They included Earl Disney, Stan, Hoar, Ralph Lee, Howard Stell and Roger Conant. Firemen's proficiency badges were presented to Bruce Stell, Bill Lee, Lioyd Morden, Greg. Shewin, Larry Morden, Mike Collins, Roy Hooker, Billy Thomas, Robert Keeler, Rich- ard Brown, Mike Nicholson and David Henning. Mr. Attersley spoke on the father and son relationship, em- phasizing they should get closer together. Scouting, he said, is a@ way in which this can be ac- complished, Quite often, he said, fathers are too busy to take time for their sons, to stop and think and try to take part in more activities with their sons.
