Just as we started to chat, the doorbell of his hotel suite rang. A stately beauty mate- rialized from the bedroom and received some laundry. Her at- tire, in the tradition of French movies, was a towel--period. "That was my wife," said| Malle offhandedly, and he con- tinued with the discussion. He is accustomed to such things, having directed not only Bri- gitte Bardot (A Very Private Affair) and Jeanne Moreau |WAS TOUGH (The Lovers) separately, but also Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne) Moreau together in Viva Maria. He had just returned from Mexico with the two French film stars and his aplomb seemed unshaken by the expe- rience. He is an impeccably groomed man, young (23) for a director, and handsome enough to fill in as leading man. "It was an extremely difficult picture," he said. 'There were) all kinds of complicated things to do--western scenes, special effects, battle scenes--all this with two girls doing what John Wayne and Gary Cooper might have done in an American film. "We shot for 17 weeks with the girls, 24% weeks without {bad for a film of such scope." P. A. Kingston Moves Typhoid Bodies KINGSTON CP) -- City council agreed Monday to the transfer of the bodies of 1,400 typhoid victims to a new grave site in St. Mary's Cemetery. The remains are of the Irish immigrants who died here of typhus in 1847. A large monu- ment erected over their grave will be removed from the grounds of Kingston General Hospital to make way for hos- pital expansion. Council's permission was nec- essary because a city bylaw forbids the extension of ceme- a teries in the area of St, Mary's. BOTH No id BOTH « ee oe MU laying. -- IN -- 3 COLOR! ? COLOR!
