BEFORE THE MAGISTRATE Motorist Finds Driving Under Suspension Costly WHITBY (Staff) -- A 21-year- old man found out, in Whitby Magistrate's Court Tuesday, that driving while his licence was under suspension does not pay. Lloyd McKinnon will spend the} mext 14 days in jail, and will be unable to drive anywhere in Canada for the next year. Evidence showed that Mc- Kinnon, had been involved in an accident on Highway 2, July 9. A Toronto man who wielded a pick handle at a dance in Grand Valley Park July 11, was fined $150 and costs or 30 days in jail for possession of an of- fensive weapon. James Kenneth O'Brien, 26, the court learned, had been at a dance at the park and had been causing a disturbance by swinging the handle and threat- ening people. | O'Brien claimed he did not! remember anything because he! had "been too drunk'. | It cost more than $12 a bottle for Peter Gould, of Uxbridge, to carry four bottles of beer in his car. Gould pleaded guilty to having liquor in a place other than his cost or seven days in jail. Drinking under age was an ex- pensive proposition for Wayne Wilson, of Old Forest rd., Pick- ering. i Wilson, 18, was fined $75 and costs or 10 days in jail, after he pleaded guilty to the offence. An accident at the intersection of Harwood ave. and Highway 2, cost Raymond Wood, 22, of Bannockburn, $50 and costs or 10 days in jail, after he pleaded guilty to careless driving. Wood, the court was told, was the driver of a car that was part way across the centre line of the road when it was struck by another vehicle, | i Three youths, who had beer in their car when it was stopped Wheelchair Is Donated WHITBY (Staff) -- Through he support and co-operation of irea residents, a wheelchair was resented to the Whitby Brig- ide, St, John Ambulance Corps, Cuesday night, by the 420 Wing f the Royai Canadian Air Force \ssociation.
