Mrs. Michel Vaucher, 27-year- old wife of a Swiss guide, had jumped the gun on more than 60 mountaineers and guides who began an ascent of the mist- shrouded peak at dawn Wed- nesday. Mrs. Vaucher"s ascent marked the first time a woman has reached the peak via the overhanging north face. Other|' women climbers have gone part of the way up the north wall, but never all the way. The Swiss woman, her hus- band and a local guide had been due to leave this morning as part of a televised multiple- of PASADENA, Calif.
