The companion picture on the twin-bill will be "Town Tamer", 2 western suspense drama with Dana Andrews starring as @ tough western lawman. "Dingaka'"' is a wide-screen and color adventure - drama -- an Embassy Picture release written, produced and directed by South Africa's foremost film maker, Jamie Uys. It unfolds a timely and compelling story, dealing with the dramatic re- gults of the meeting of two vast- ly different ways of life; the contemporary and the primitive. - Shot entirely on location in South Africa, it is undoubtedly one of the most authentic films to come out of the Dark Con- tinent. To accomplish such reality and capture the essence of the true Africa, as a background to the drama of a successful, Jo- hannesburg Society lawyer's de- fence of a native tribesman ac- cused of attempted murder, took _ over two years of active pro- duction work, Uys and his crews travelled thousands of miles across the hinterlands and shot 400,000 feet of film recording exotic, natural beauties and ancient rituals never before seen. The courageous moviemen went by plane, landrover, truck, on horseback and eventually on foot. They entered the un- explored wilds of North Trans- vaal, and obtained permission of the legendary King Malabog to use his remote African king- dom for key sequences in the picture. Malabog country is a place where time has stood still, and the snake, especially the python, is still looked upon as a sacred object. All of the members of the crew, therefore, as an ex- ample of the many difficulties they had to face, had to take special pains to abide by the tribal law. Stanley Baker, the rugged and handsome . international _ star, adds a new dimension to his acting in this production. He will be remembered as one of the unforgettable stars of "Zulu". Born in the Rhondda Valley of Wales, Baker is the son of a miner and has a brother who works in the mines of the area today. BETTE DAVIS THE REGENT IS CURRENT: ly playing '"The Nanny", a 20th Century-Fox suspense - drama starring Bette Davis in the title role. This follows the same pat- tern of roles she began in 1962 with "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" Her performances as aging neurotic ladies have won her the acelaim of critics which already include two Acad- emy Awards and an unbeliev- able ten Academy Award nom- inations, the greatest number ever voted for an actress. This marks her third film in which she has appeared: to be made in England. Hailing from New England herself, she ad- mits to a marked fondness for Britain and the British. Her fre- quent praise for the British way of life was one of the many things that helped to endear her to the cast and production staff. They were delighted with the pleasure she expressed on & day's -- location in ~Regent's Park, London. Since many of the world's top actors and actresses reside in London, Producer Jimmy Sang- ster quickly assembled an out- standing cast. William Dix, in the role of the 10-year-old boy, makes his screen debut in this film opposite Miss Davis.
