Although it is based on AA's 12 Steps and program it is not part of AA. Three years ago the one group ;|comprised of wives from Whit- by and Oshawa became two groups, one with wives from Whitby, and one with wives from Oshawa. Though these are two separ ate groups they do meet in. the same hall, in order that there will be a meeting of Al-Anon in this district each week. Person- al anonymity is greatly stress ed in Al-Aon; there is no mem- bership fee or dues, it is self- supporting by the members' own contributions. The only qualification for membership is that there be a drinking problem within the family; it is not a temperance group.
